Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

1.      Original Research Papers: These should only include findings from original research. The article should have an abstract in a structured format and within 250 words. The word limit is 3000 excluding references and abstract.

2.      Case Reports: Cases that are unique or interesting in terms of presentation or management should be submitted in this section. There should be a brief abstract within 150 words and the word limit is 1500 words excluding abstract and references.

3.      Review Articles: Narrative and/or systematic reviews can be submitted here. Review articles should include an abstract of not more than 250 words describing briefly the purpose of the review. The word limit is 5000 words excluding abstract and references.

4.      Viewpoint: These should be views and opinions on debatable issues that should be discussed in detail citing available literature. The word limit is 3000 words excluding references.

5.      CME: Articles in this section should briefly deal with academic topics of recent interest which are of relevance to the postgraduate trainees in psychiatry

References: Referencing style should be Vancouver method, i.e., the cited articles should be numbered in the order of their appearance in the text. For further details, contributors are referred to the website of Indian Journal of Psychiatry (Information for Authors).
