Abstract

Following the short term and long-term effects of the Covid pandemic, mental health problems have emerged in a big way. The medical professionals have been subjected to excessive stress following the pandemic. Incessant work schedules along with irregular classes, fear of infecting their near and dear ones- all these have taken a severe toll on the medical professionals. Undergraduate and post graduate medical students have been at the forefront of the Covid warriors and have undergone severe stress and exacting work schedules in the last two years. All these have led to emerging mental health problems in this population. Recent spurt of suicides in medical students, both undergraduate and post graduate, has shaken the country in general and the medical professionals and their families in particular.
